Delivery information brochure

The aim of this brochure is to make your stay at our maternity unit easier and to make your birth and the first days of your baby special. Please read carefully!

Plan your way to Medicover Maternity Unit!

Before the due date, it is recommended to check the easiest and quickest way to get to the hospital. It is also a good idea to be prepared for any possibility and to look for alternative routes so that they are available if needed and, thus, you do not have to worry about getting to the clinic in those urgent times.

Arrival

If labor begins (contractions starting or membranes breaking) or if you are unsure about the start of labor, call the midwife on call who will ask you about your current events and will advise you on what to do next. If the midwife thinks that further checks are necessary or that labor is likely to start, we will advise you to make your way to the maternity unit. Upon arrival, the doctor and midwife on duty will meet you.

Dedicated case managers will look after the mother

Our dedicated case managers will ensure that every moment of the birth process goes smoothly. They will help in arranging the appointments for the necessary tests and in organizing everything so that you do not have anything to worry about.

Administration

Szülészeti tájékoztató
  • After the birth of your baby, you will be contacted by one of the members of our administrative staff about the registration of your baby’s birth—to begin the process of issuing the birth certificate and applying for a residence card. The government office has 30 days to prepare the documents; once they are ready, you will receive a notification and they will be posted to the address you provided. It is also possible to apply for an identity card for the baby. The social security card and tax card are automatically issued and mailed to the mother’s address. While the baby does not have a social security number, the mother’s social security number can be used with the number 9 in place of the first number.
  • Our health visitor, who is located in the hospital, will inform the health visitor and GP in community of the birth of your baby, who will visit you at home and take care of the newborn. If you have a private pediatrician—who is not the community one—please notify him or her of the birth of your baby.

Departure

You can be discharged on the agreement of the obstetrician and neonatologist. Discharge papers are given to both mother and baby before discharge. Please, after receiving the final report, leave your room before noon. Otherwise, please ask the head midwife for assistance. Additional nights in our hospital are available at an extra charge.

Thank you for choosing Medicover Hospital for the birth of your baby!
