“I gave birth to my son on 18 January at Medicover Maternity and I would just like to thank the whole maternity team for their professional and humane approach to making my birth an absolutely positive experience despite the inevitable pain. It means a lot that the first few hours and days of our life together started so well.

I would like to give a special mention to midwife Zsuzsa Fantha, who was a real gift to me, and I think it was largely thanks to her that I managed to deliver my baby without any injuries and felt almost no discomfort for a few days after the birth. She was a huge help both mentally and physically during labour and the final stages, if I could have chosen better help I couldn’t have asked for more.

I also received tremendous support from the baby nurses, specifically the lovely, young, long brown-haired colleague who was on the ward on 19 January (and I’m ashamed to say that I’ve forgotten her name with my sleepless brain). Even at the end of a 24-hour shift, she treated me and my baby with a love and cheerfulness that was truly honourable.

I am grateful that in one of the most vulnerable situations of my life, and during my most intense physical ordeal, I was surrounded by professionals who made me feel safe, supported and uplifted both mentally and physically throughout.
